I love 14.5″ AR-15’s..Joshv06
I used to think 14.5″ AR-15’s were pointless. Why would I limit being able to change rails, gas block, muzzle devices for a 1.5″ shorter AR-15?
The whole thing comes down to center of gravity with a suppressor. My Saker 762 weighs 21oz, the AAC muzzle brake it attaches to is 4oz. That is over a pound and a half at the point where weight counts the most: the muzzle. Bringing it back 1.5″ make a difference while shouldering and moving from target to target. All the while, I’m keeping the same barrel length as an M4, not losing much velocity over a 16″. If you do this, you mind has to be set on the rail, muzzle device and gas block. I sell Guntec rails, which they all use the same barrel nut. Should Guntec come out with a better rail in the future, I do not have to remove the barrel nut to upgrade.
I used the silver solder method for attaching. The barrel and AAC 51T brake comes to 16.01″ over all. It feels like an SBR!
